Natural & Organic Handmade Products from Uganda

With its primary goal of mobilizing all capable skilled and semi-skilled individuals, members in the SeWA Art & Craft cooperative see production as a means to solve their social and economic related problems.

SeWA travels throughout our region to collect the art and crafts from members participating in the artisans cooperative, currently 12 local groups and numerous individuals.  Items are brought back to SeWA’s collection center, which is managed by 7 executive members who have pooled their resources to finance the project.  Some members who produce their art and craft works are paid cash at collection in order to ensure constant production.  Other members wait for payments when their products are sold.  SeWA offers continuous training and supervision for the artisan producers to ensure the quality of the pieces produced.

The artisans’ handmade crafts are available for sale locally and online.  Products include artwork, bags, baskets, carvings, ceramics, clothing, drums, figurines, jewelry, leather goods, metal items, natural fiber items, textile items, Uganda souvenirs, wood items, and woven mats.  These products can be purchased through the Online Store, helping SeWA members improve their lives. These products range from useable to decorative and make excellent and unique gifts.

To learn more about the artisans and their work, please visit our Artisans page.
